Sacco wins on the beach

Western New England College sophomore heavyweight Jamison Sacco won the over 85kg weight class at the Beach Wrestling World Team Trials this past weekend in Rochester, New York.  He has now made the team that will compete in the World Championships next month in Montenegro.  Sacco was the NEWA champ in his first year of college competition, qualifying for the NCAA Championships.  On the beach, he weighed in at 297 lbs, giving him a considerable size advantage over his opponents.  Read the full release below.

  1. I think this is awesome. the only problem is the althete has to pay his own way. The US does not offer any help to them. So without the support no alhlete can compete in this sport to try and win gold. Which the USA never has, they have only won a couple of bronze medals

  2. nice to see runner-up Stephen Franko — a former DIII wrestler at Wilkes — took time off from his law practice to hit the beach!
