  1. I think there should be two categories for Scholar teams…you have teams like NYU, Williams, Chicago, and Case Western whom all have tough rigerous academics, …and then you have teams like Wartburg or some state schools who have courses in fly fishing and sun tanning…you can’t compare the quality of education.

  2. Whatever, I think a course in fly fishing sounds sweet and I goto one of those “rigerous” academic schools. There shouldn’t be a special award given to you for giving a crap about what happens to you after college.

  3. ??? haha

“just sayin” your response in no way ever came close to an intelligent thought. After I read your response I became dumber. I award you no points and god have mercy on your soul.

  4. My response made perfect sense. Why should you get special acknowledgement for going to a good school? Even if you have easy classes at a lesser university, you still have to fulfill your academic committments inorder to enable you to be an academic all-american. Besides that, all I said was that a class on fly fishing would be sweet. I think it would be nice to take something like that, compared to the economics I have to take.

  5. I’m sure Williams has some easy classes too. I think its really impressive National Champ Mike Bonora has a 3.9 to have the dedication to win nationals and still maintain a 3.9 is amazing

  6. For one thing…..Since when did Wartburg have a course in flyfishing and suntanning? I never remember a course like that when I was in school. I would not say that my quality of eduation was poor from Wartburg.

  7. wrestlehard is a blowhard know-nothing. Probably as good at wrestling as he is at cognitive thought.

  8. To put the academic achievemement of the Williams team in perspective one must consider that according to US News, 90% of Williams’ freshman class graduated in the top 10% of their high school class; their “average” SAT on the 1600 scale was 1420. For the team to achieve a 3.5 GPA against that kind of academic competition says a lot for the wrestlers and their coaches.

  9. Go Knights:

Flyfishing and suntanning were advanced courses at Wartburg…they prob. didn’t offer them to you. Dude, I was joking….

  10. Ya Wartburg definently has one of the least rigerous academic programs possible. That must be the secret behind their pre-med program which is the largest on campus and still seems to maintain a med school placement rating right around 99%…not bad if you ask me. Their business and music departments have had it’s fair share of accomplishments as well. Of course their are some easier courses just like any institution, but how can one go about deciding which schools are “easy” and which are “hard”?

  11. What qualifications are required for an athlete to be considered All-American. I see there are no freshman on the list.

  12. To be eligible for NWCA Scholar All-American honors, a student-athlete must carry a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher or have at least a 3.2 Criteria – GPA for the previous full academic year and must either be a 2008 national qualifier with a minimum .500 won/loss record, place at a national qualifying tournament (at least sixth for the IIAC) with a minimum .500 won/loss record and have competed in at least 50% of his institution’s total scheduled competition of NCAA sanctioned events, or have a minimum .670 won/loss record and have competed in at least 50% of his institution’s total scheduled competition of NCAA sanctioned events.
