Really? The team rankings are ridiculous. Thiel in the top 30 and no Waynesburg? Who has dominated the Tomcats over the last two years, placed third in the Midwest and 20th at NCAA’s? Concordia, who I admit should be ranked, goes from unranked to ninth? It’s a shame there isn’t a second set of rankings to go off of.
Correction… Dominated Thiel last year in dual match and at PAC Tournament. Thiel actually beat Waynesburg two years ago.
Bob. Rankings mean nothing. Results matter. Rankings are just for fun and to give people something to talk about.
You will have All-Americans in March who are not ranked right now. Why? Because they might change weight classes, they might not even be enrolled in school right now, they might be ineligible right now, they might be freshman, or they might be better than the rankers know. In order to be more accurate and avoid inaccurate pre-season rankings, D3 should not have rankings until January. The same logic applies to team rankings.
The rankings people are dealing with incomplete information so you should be grateful that you have anything at this point.
Yes there should be a second set of rankings. In fact there should be 3 or 4 sets. But there is not. If you expect a few coaches who get together once a month who also have other responsibilities in their professional and personal lives to be perfect, then you have some unrealistic expectations.
Instead of complaining, why don’t you get a group together and start a second set of rankings. D3 wrestling wrestlers, fans, and coaches would welcome more coverage and more opinions. Or maybe contact the people who do the rankings and inform them of information that they may have overlooked.
Thanks for your enthusiasm. In a sport like wrestling where we are constatly battling to get the recognition we deserve, I think we will get further if you could channel your enthusiasm in a postive way.
Will Ecker be 141 all year? Ecker v Yewah would make for a good finals match. Will Reynolds (MtU) be 133 all year or will he drop to 125? And does anyone know what happened to Dukes (Case)?

Funny how someone complaining about waynesburg not being in the team rankings but they left out that crown still remains number one after his performance last weekend.
I think that for Concordia not being ranked in the preseason rankings was ridiculous. It really must have been a mistake. There’s absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t have been ranked coming into this season, other then the head coach sandbagging. I understand that they did graduate a few excellent wrestlers, but give me a break.
Wow, lots of changes here with the rankings. 174–Lenhardt from J&W winning the tournament with 3 ranked wrestlers in the weight class. (Cross, Weseleyn kid, and Dormann) His only loss this season was against Martino from NYU.

I agree with the Crown comment. I was very surprised with his showing and apparent early-season injury, which is no excuse. Hopefully he bounces back because they need him to get duals off to a good start and get Fedorka in the room from football to close up matches at heavyweight.
