I love how every year Millboy throws some Wartburg guys in there that have no business being ranked. It is really smart on his part to do that. I think throughout the year guys actually believe in themselves more because of it. Hey I’m ranked __ in the nation, I better live up to the hype. I don’t think that Wartburg’s 197 has ever beaten anyone worth a sh** but he’s ranked 10th in the nation.

I don’t understand either, how an unranked guy can win one match over another D3 unranked guy then default out of a tournament then in the next rankings he is ranked 10th in the nation.

Hey I told you soo!!! Roger Williams starts off ranked 20th and now will never see them again in the rankings!!!! Easy to be ranked when you havent wrestled yet!! hahahaha
The NWCA rankings are always biased. At least d3wrestle makes an attempt to give nonbiased rankings.

These rankings are a joke. They’re about as biased as they can get. I don’t understand how a guys who has done absolutely nothing collegiately for 3 years can jump into the rankings after winning one match to a kid that is in the same position. There are people that moved into the rankings that shouldn’t have, people that dropped that shouldn’t have, and people that didn’t drop that should have dropped completely out. Andy does a much better job with his rankings and I think those will be the only ones I refer to this year.
These rankings are always horrible. The heavyweight rankings are so far off. The D3wrestle rankings look to actucally be based on performance and not reputation. The D3 rankings are what everyone should pay attention too, not the biased, good ‘ole boy rankings of the NWCA
New England with 8 guys ranked…this number should keep increasing as the year goes on…in conference competition is getting better and therefore individuals are too…keep an eye out for NEWA come Iowa.
The rankings can only be as good as the scope of those doing the ranking. These few need to get out and see more wrestling beyond their conference or “neighborhood” or they need to get more coaches involved to offer a more comprehensive view of Division III nationally.

To add on to that Shandri did nothing last year or the year before that for that matter, won 1 match at Stevens Point to an unranked guy, inj defaulted out and doesn’t wrestle at the harold nichols and he is now ranked at 197
What is the deal at Wartburg? I have respect for those on the team that have wrestled in the first two tough meets (Stevens Point and Harold Nicholas)but it seems that the rest of the team is waiting to wrestle in meets that they know they will be able to have success in and bolster their rankings. I have no idea how the wrestlers on the Wartburg’s team feel about this but their college careers are limited and missed opportunities may be dwelled on in the future.
