Many of the top wrestlers from 2007 return at 197 lbs. for 2008. National Champ Miller and runner-up Strandberg return along with three other 2007 All-Americans. Weatherspoon (Olivet) and Strickland (Lax) seem to be the top newcomers, but it will of course depend on how quickly the incoming freshmen develop. There doesn’t seem to be a strong contender in the weight who can knock off Miller, but in 2006 it seemed the same way going into the tournament before Kelly from Wilkes beat Miller twice in the tournament for Miller’s only two losses of that season.

No strong contender? I think Bonander’s going to come back more determined to knock him off this year. He only lost to Miller 4-3 in the conference finals. That was a match after beating Strandberg.
massey from U of Wisc is transferring into augsburg also, he will be a contender. Haven’t seen him in a few years but should atleast give Miller all he wants

I thought this is the older (smaller) brother. Local rumor is he will go 97 and Wally has bulked up. This is what I was told and I am sure is not written in stone either way he should be a championship contender at either weight.
