d3wrestle.com Rankings #3

Here are the latest d3wrestle.com Rankings.  Several weight classes seem to have a lot of parity this year, so there can be some pretty significant shakeups in the rankings from week to week.  Also, this last period had a few wrestlers bump up and defeat highly ranked wrestlers the next weight class up.  Generally speaking, we have moved the winners up based on a win over a quality opponent, but we have not moved the losing wrestler down much, if at all, as that loss was not to anyone below them in their weight.  If the winning wrestler appears to make a permanent move up to the higher weight, that will be considered in the next set of rankings.  Also, a few wrestlers have been moved to different weights based either on recent performance or outside information.  This will all shake out as the season continues to progress.

  1. Keep an eye on Alex Crown, a freshman 125-pounder from Waynesburg. He beat Thiel’s Robbie Miller at the two team’s dual and has really done a nice job. I think he’s 13-4 on the year and 6-0 in duals. He’s also 5-0 in techs and 2-0 in pins, so he’s definitely a scorer.

  2. Alex Crown will have a tough time qualifying for the National Tournament and will have a tough bracket at their conference

  3. why isint James Forsyth from brockport ranked at 165…. he beat the del-val kid that is ranked 7th……he deserves at least an h.m.

  4. Rick … Anyone is going to have a tough time at 125 out of the Midwest Regional. With Crown, Miller and Cecchetti from W&J, PAC may have an outside shot at sending two 125s to regionals with Sheetz gone from Del. Val.

  5. Forsyth has a medical forfeit win over Barowski in November….that isn’t grounds to rank him!

Forsyth has lost to Berkovic from Wesleyen (HM) and Deeds (unranked) from Etown, a loss that really is keeping him out of these rankings for now.

He does have some decent wins over Dale (Ith), Rogers (RW) and Heisey (York). These are all wrestlers right on the brink of HM status so Forsyth is on the radar, but needs wins over guys on the list to be on the list.

  6. yeah it was a medical forfeit, but he was winning 7-4 in the 3rd period before the kid broke his finger against Forsyth as Forsyth was taking him down.

  7. Yeah… he definitely has a long way to go and the Midwest is going to be a tough region for 125. He’s an animal in duals, but could probably use a little work on his conditioning to be a better tournament wrestler.

  8. Eduardo Delgado from Hunter should be ranked at 157. He’s 7-3 with close losses to Horwath, DiColo, and another Ithaca kid and beat Histed from Wilkes and Monson from Roger Williams

  9. If you want someone to be ranked, you should campaign for that person by stating who he has wins over. Letting people know who he has lost to does not get you anywhere. Bottom line, it’s all about winning…

  10. Crain from Oneonta has wins over Krawchuck from wilkes and most recently, and overtime pin against Rittenburg from williams. Here is another one on the brink who probably should have been mentioned. So far, I have been more impressed with the integrity of last years rankings more so than this years. The coaches poll seems to be doing the kids more justice thus far. Just my opinion( just like these rankings). Love D3 though!
