  1. It would seem the seeding committee didn’t do a particularly strong job. How does this compare ro recent years, out of curiosity?

  2. Is seeding just determined by the algorithm on Trackwrestling?

According to AV’s post from a year ago, 57 of 80 All-Americans in 2013 were seeded (as compared to 60 of 80 this year). So more unseeded wrestlers made it to the podium last year.

  3. Thanks, for the information. In fairness, “that’s why the matches are wrestled.” But you have to wonder if a returning national runner up and then a top 5 kid last year being thrown at the Beast is even plausible by an algorithm.

  4. The East had 13 all Americans. And the west was down this year, yes. I always find it interesting how we judge on 1 year, 1 tourney, etc. The west was the overvalued conference this year, no doubt. It’s why I questioned the seeding. But so many matches were 1 pt, either way.

And there was NO continuity with takedowns amongst refs, when ppeople were out of bounds or even how to review. I saw 7 different matches that I thought the score was significantly off in 1 round. And it was the placing round. Hard to judge if you didn’t witness it. Dierna had 3 cradles in the semis, all from neutral, none of which were ruled takedowns. 2 were stalemates. 1 went out of bounds. He won in SV on a cradle off of a snap down. . .the exact same thing that wasn’t a cradld a minute before.
